Hard Knocks Fighting returns to Calgary with a stacked card tonight in Calgary, Alberta. The card will feature a whopping four of this months Top Maple Leaf Match Ups. In the main event Ryan Dickson will defend his Welterweight Title against Jason Fischer. Also on the card Jesse Arnett will take on Vince Murdock in a Bantamweight bout, Joel Powell and Christ Franck do battle in a Welterweight contest and Chris Mattock meets Adam Smith also at Welterweight.
Limited tickets are still available and a portion of the pro card will again air live on The Fight Network beginning at 9pm eastern time. Round 1: Jason is landing a lot of kicks and staying just out of the Range of Ryan’s counters. Jason’s movement is just awesome. Jason lands another hard leg kick then moves and lands a powerful left hook. Ryan finally shoots for a takedown and gets it. He drops back for a heel hook and gives up his position. Jason scrambles and takes Ryan’s back. Strangely Jason asks for the time and Ryan’s corner answers him.?? Jason is landing a lot of elbows and punches to Ryan’s head and finishes the round on top. Round 2: Jason throws a high kick that connects and wows the audience. Jason is landing those leg kicks again but his pace may be slowing. Jason lands a great spinning backfist then gets hit with an accidental low blow. Ryan lands a nice right hand the and a great leg kick. Ryan slips and Jason pounces on him and nearly gets taken down by Ryan. Jason is keeping Ryan at bay with his jabs and Ryan is starting to land some hard leg kicks. Round 3: The fighters clinch. Jason lands a nice knee to Ryan’s body. Jason lands another hard leg kick and Ryan asks for another one. Jason clinches and lands a few hard knees and an elbow that hurt Ryan. Ryan comes right back with a leg kick. Ryan is leaving himself a lot more open when he moves in. It looks like the damage is adding up. Jason takes Ryan down takes his back. Ryan is fighting with his eyes closed on the ground. Ryan recovers guard but finishes on bottom. Round 4: Jason lands a nice front kick to Ryan’s face. Ryan looks desperate and shoots for a takedown and gets it! Ryan passes to half mount but losses it. Ryan drops back presumably for a heel hook and almost looses position. Crazy! Jason attempts a triangle and manages to get back to his feet. Round 5: Jason lands a great right hand and is controlling the action on the feet like he did for the last 4 rounds. Jason takes Ryan down with a huge slam but Ryan finds his heel and starts working for a heel hook. Ryan is close with this! Jason escapes but gives up top position. Ryan circles around but can’t manage to pass to mount. Ryan finishes the round in top position but doesn’t manage to seriously threaten the finish from Jason’s guard. Round 1: Jesse throws a wild spinning back kick and falls to the mat but Vince doesn’t punish him for it. Jesse moves a lot like Conor McGreger. Both fighter are keeping busy but their defence is so good that nothing is landing. Jesse lands a great body shot. Jesse shoots for a takedown and lands another blow to Vince’s body. Jesse’s long range jab is starting to connect and Vince doesn’t seem to know how to deal with it. Jesse shoots for a takedown at the end of the round but Vince stuffs it. Round 2: Jesse is working his jab to the body again and moving in and out of range just slightly too fast for Vince. Jesse shoots for a take down and lands a nice right hand but the attempt is stuffed. Vince throws a high kick that grazes Jesse. Vince finally get inside and does some damage leaning a great combination up against the cage. Jesse gets out and takes Vince down. Vince get back to his feet but Jesse takes him down again and locks in a RNC almost immediately. That was a great finish!

Round 1: Christ is moving around a lot more than Joel but both fighters and starting things off cautiously. Christ throws a cracking body kick but Josh catches it and takes Christ down. From top position Joel lands some decent strikes and passes to side control. Christ tries to wall walk up the cage but Joel jumps on his back and starts landing a lot of punches to Christ’s face. That just feels strange to write. Joel completely has Christ’s back with both hooks in and manages to flatten Christ out. Christ is defending the Rear Naked Choke but is getting hit a lot. He manages to pull himself up by the fence despite the referees warnings bu. Joel complains but takes him back down and nearly gets the choke. Joel is working for a finish but is just not getting quite enough damage. Round 2: It will be interesting to see if Christ can come back after that round. Joel pins Christ up against the fence and drags him down with a single leg takedown. Once on the mat, Joel passes to half mount and works to pass to mount. It looks like Joel may be trying to set up an arm triangle. Joel is landing some decent strikes but the action has really slowed here. Joel finally passes to mount. From mount Joel is pounding Christ but it doesn’t look like he will be ending the fight here because he is being pretty cautious. Joel is landing quite a few elbows and the damage is starting to show on Christ’s face. Christ rolls and Joel locks in a deep arm bar. Somehow Christ escapes and the crowd goes wild. Round 3: The fighters hug at the opening of round three. Christ lands a body kick and Joel counters with stiff right hand. to Christ’s face. Christ is pinning Joel up against the cage and eventually the fighters are separated for inactivity. Christ charges forward and pins Joel up against the cage again. Christ attempts a single leg takedown but his attempt backfires and Joel takes his back. Joel rolls Christ belly up and is working for an RNC. Round 1: Adam starts hammering Chris with short hooks that stun Chris allowing Adam to take him down. From guard Chris is shutting down Adam and threatening with submissions. Adam lands a couple of hard right hands. Chris attempts and omoplata but Adam escapes easily. Adam breaks free and lands a few more hammer strikes but Chris is holding on tight and keeping Adam tied up really well. Chris is bleeding a lot from his know because of that first punch landed from his guard. Whoa Adam just transitioned to a side choke instantly. Very slick. Chris gives up his back to defend and Adam locks an a body triangle from back mount and just starts hammering Chris with elbows until referee Andy Social stops the fight. Chris is just a bloody mess right now but he looks ok.

Round 1: Both fighters are fighting cautiously and feeling each other out. Todd lands a few leg kicks but it seems like he is baiting a counter from Anton. Clearly these are both high level strikers. Todd connects with a left straight. Todd rushes in with a combination but none of the strikes land and the fighters separate. Anton lands a leg kick then Todd charges in and narrowly misses Anton with a hard punch. There is some redness on Antons’ left knee showing. Todd slipped after a strike and Anton almost connected with a powerful kick as a result. The fighters clinch and Todd starts pinning Anton up against the cage. This time Anton unleashes a combination but Todd avoids all the strikes expertly and lands a right hook that connects and stuns Anton. Todd starts firing off a flurry of short right hooks that KO Anton prompting referee Adam Cheadle the stop the fight.

Miles Anstead vs. Markhaile Wedderburn

Round 1: Miles rushes in with a right hand and clinches up with Markhaile. Clearly he doesn’t want to strike with Markhaile. Miles scores the takedown and while Markhaile works to stand up Miles is working to take his back. Markhaile shucks him off and gets top position but Miles rolls and starts working for a heel hook. Markhaile defends well but in trying to escape he gives up his back. Miles then takes side control and attempts an arm bar. Markhaile escapes again and gets top position but Miles locks in an omoplata forcing Markhaile to roll and again give up top position. Markhaile tries to scramble to his feet but Miles takes his back and locks in a rear naked choke. This time he gets the tap. All of those submission attempts were solid, I’m amazed the fight lasted as long as it did.

Round 1: Josh moves in really fast and lands a couple of leg licks prompting Micah to change levels and take Josh down. Micah quickly passes to mount and Josh reverses him but in the transition Micah locks in a really tight triangle. From bottom Micah starts raising his hands and pointing Nick Diaz style but maintains control of Josh’s leg. Josh taps and referee Andy Social breaks the fighters up. Despite the tap and fast break up Josh is out on the canvas. Josh shakes his leg a bit but quickly recovers.

Dusty Kramps vs. Brad Robinson

Round 1: I don’t know, there is something about Brad Robinson. He is a scary looking fighter! I doubt Dusty is intimidated though. The fighters start out fighting really aggressively with both fighters landing really hard shots. Dusty drops down for a takedown scores it and then passes to side control. Brad kicks off the fence and reverses Dusty. Dusty wall walks back up to his feet but it looks like he is bleeding from his ear. Dusty shoots for another takedown but Brad defends well and puts the takedown pressure on Dusty with some excellent clinch work. Dusty drops down for a takedown again, this time for a single leg, and succeeds in taking Brad down. From bottom position Brad is using his submission attempts to shut down Dusty’s offence. Eventually Brad locks in a kimura and reverses Dusty with it and then starts hammering down elbows. After at least 10 unanswered mostly blocked elbows referee Adam Cheadle stops the fight

Chris Anderson vs. Mac Laursen (Amateur Middleweight Title Fight)

Round 1: Chris lands a right hand a knee to Mac’s body. Mac pushes him up against the cage t a lands some body shots but Chris lands great knee to Mac’s body. Chris drops down and takes Mac down with a huge takedown. From top position Chris is peppering Mac’s body and staying very active. Chris stands up and lands some really hard punches to Mac’s body that look like they really did some damage Mac stands up and Chris pounds on him attempting to take his back. Mac escapes but Chris is pinning him up against the cage. Both fighters are really throwing leather now doing damage evenly between the two. This was an awesome round! Round 2: Chris lands a couple of great body shots and a powerful knee to Mac’s body. Mac is landing some shots as well but Chris is getting the better of the exchanges this time. Chris takes him down with a double leg and lands a great knee from top position. The fighters stand up and Chris really starts taking over the round landing combinations at will. Chris lands a few body kicks that sounded brutal from cage side. Eventually referee Andy Social sees enough and stops the fight.

Round 1: The fighters scramble right off the opening bell. Eventually Levi sinks in a tight standing guillotine Jared tries to pull guard but Levi just slams him to the ground then punches the head of Jared forcing referee Andy social to break up the action. Levi is warned but when the action resumes he lands a devastating combination that stuns Jared. I thought the fight was over but Jared shoots for a takedown and recovers his composure. Jared takes Levi down and does some great work from top position. Eventually Levi gets back to his feet and nearly knocks Jared out on his feet for a second time. Round 2: I should be clear. Levi looks like he is one or two weight classes bigger than Jared. Jared throws a few weak punches. Levi lands crushing kick to Jared’s liver dropping Jared and ending the fight. Props to Jared for even taking this fight. He is clearly under-sized for this weight class though.

Round 1: Mallory starts the round with an aggressive punching combination that backs Coralie up. Coralie responds by pushing her up against the cage and landing fierce body shots and really roughing Mallory up before taking her down. From top position Coralie passes into side mount and starts landing knees to Mallory’s side and working to trap Mallory’s arm. Coralie is working for a kimura from the crucifix position. This position would be very dominant if strikes to the head of a downed opponent were legal under Amateur rules. Red gets the tap. Referee Adam Cheadle stops the fight.

Round 1: Riley goes for a spinning back kick but blue moves perfectly closing the distance and catching the leg. The fighters clinch up and eventually Riley takes Devon down. Riley lands a few body strikes from top position before Devon reverses him and starts working to pass. Devon passes to half mount and then Riley reverses him and passes to full mount. Round 2: Riley opens the round by landing a crushing leg kick and follows it up with a thundering body kick and a couple of spinning back kicks that hit their mark. That was brutal! Devon moves in for a takedown but Riley takes Devon down instead. The fighters stand up and Riley comes in a with a straight right hand that hurts Devon badly. Riley moves in for the kill with a flurry of punches. Devon drops to the mat and referee Andy Social stops the fight.
